For simplicity's sake, I decided to collect all my free reads, that are scattered throughout this website, and create a separate page devoted solely to books, stories, teasers, trailers, etc. Basically anything that's not available for purchase but still worth a glance...well, in my opinion, anyway. Please note that some of these stories might only be available if you buy another book. Most of the rest do require you to sign up for either my newsletter or my reader group
I've separated them by series because that seemed A) neater than a random hodge podge of books B) less chaotic than attempting to list them alphabetically...the series are listed alphabetically, in most cases, and that's troublesome enough; and C) prettier than simply chucking new ones at the bottom from time to time.
It's important to note that, in some cases, stories that appear here now will eventually be fleshed out, extended, or otherwise incorporated into longer books. At which point, that freebie might cease to exist in its current form. So. Enjoy them while they're here!
Oh! and one last note while we're on the subject of FREE Reads (because I'm all about giving people options). I do have an ARC page for anyone willing to trade timely reviews in exchange for reading new and/or as yet unpublished books.
Check it out here: https://www.pgforte.com/arc-requests
Angels in the Afterlife
If there was one thing Matteo Matinucci never lacked, it was determination. If he made up his mind to do something, it got done. He never let anything stop him. Not even dying.
So when he set his sights on Edge, he knew he'd get his man. How hard could it be to waltz into Limbo, sweep his fellow angel off his feet and return with him to Heaven--where they both belonged?
A lot harder than he imagined, apparently. Now Mattie's stuck in a place he doesn't belong, doing the one thing he never dreamed possible: falling in love.
Warning: Please be aware that this is not a sequel to Edge of Heaven. This is the side of the story you haven't heard yet. Mattie's side.
I was busy writing Christmas Angel when I was asked to write a piece of holiday-themed flash fiction using the prompts: lamppost, gingerbread, stockings. And this is what came out. It's a flashback scene (ten years earlier) showing the heroes moving from friends to lovers during their first Christmas together. It's short and sweet and the cover is just fun!

Children of Night--and Other Vampires
Spanish Love Song
When a Tenth Century Roman soldier meets a Fifteenth Century Spanish courtier, it's love at first bite.
WARNING: This is NOT a new story. This is an excerpt from Old Sins, Long Shadows, and details Conrad and Damian's first meeting.
Random thoughts about what it means to be vampire, culled from the pages of the Children of Night books.
This is very much a work in progress, rather than the definitive document I intend it to be. I'll be adding to these from time to time. But, for now: You can access it HERE.
Blame It On The Voodoo
What’s a little black magic among friends?
Vampire Rene Boudreaux is more than a little annoyed. It seems sexy voodoo queen Zirondelle Doucette has got him under her spell. Can Zee convince Rene that the only real magic is love? Or will he continue to blame it on the voodoo?
Please note, this story is NOT connected in any way with the Children of Night series. At t the moment, it's a standalone, but I might expand it into its own series in the future.
***This title was originally released as part of the Nine Nights in New Orleans anthology.***
The Zillionaire Vampire Cowboy's Secret Werewolf Babies
Theirs was a love that nature never intended. Bigger than Texas. Hotter than Hades. Weirder than…a lot of other things you might have read about up until now.
Self-made zillionaire Rock Fangsworthy is your typical Texas cowboy…well, sort of. Typical in that the only thing this lethally sexy lady-charmer with the hair trigger temper loves more than his horse is his ranch, The Double Fang. Or maybe his boots. Less typical in the fact he's also a four hundred year old vampire with a shocking secret—he can't stand the sight of blood.
Buffi Van Pelt is just your average girl-next-door winery owner…or is she? The spunky single mom to twin boys also happens to be a winsome werewolf with secrets and troubles of her own. The winery that the gutsy good-girl recently inherited from her grandmother is on the verge of ruin. If Buffi can't find a use for the mysteriously tainted wine before time and her pantry's limited supply of red meat runs out, she and her pups will be left homeless, destitute and very, very hungry. Worse yet, her baby-daddy is the same hunky, bad-boy vampire rancher who's out to steal The Best Little Winery in Bloodsuck from under her paws.
Once upon a time their passion flamed hotter'n a summer's night in Dallas with three Cheerleaders and a side of habanero sauce. Tonight, love's lightning might just strike them twice…but only if the wine don't kill them first.
***YES, it's a PARODY. Don't say you haven't been warned!***
Technically, you can buy this book at any of the Books 2 Read links. But it was supposed to be free, at this point, so there's a Prolific Works option as well. Enjoy!

LA Love Lessons
Counting On Christmas
An Ugly Christmas Sweater Story
I originally wrote this short story for the Nine Naughty Novelists' Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. It's short—just two scenes--about Mike and Claire's (Let Me Count the Ways) first Christmas together. I always wondered how their weekend might have turned out. Did it live up to their expectations? Were all their fantasies fulfilled? This year I got to explore the answer when I wrote Christmasing With You for the Let's Get Naughty anthology.

An Oberon Prequel Novella
Such Fleeting Pleasures
Love wasn't always strawberries and cream for Lucy and Dan Cavanaugh...or was it? In this Oberon prequel, we travel back in time to see how their love story began.
Most of the material in this prequel novella (set some eighteen years before the series begins) also appears as flashback scenes in A Taste of Honey.
Although the series as a whole is not currently available, you can access a FREE DOWNLOAD of this novella when you join my Facebook group: The Crone's Nest

I'll Be Home For Christmas
An Oberon Christmas Story
All Scout wants this holiday season is to get home in time for Christmas. But when your home is in quirky little Oberon, California, nothing is ever that simple.
It’s the night before Christmas and Scout Patterson is flying home to Oberon after a business trip to LA when a chance, mid-air meeting with an angel has her dreaming of a weird Christmas—one in which she sees what the town would have been like if she had never returned.

Going Back to Oberon
A Very Short Story
This story started out as a feature on Cabin Goddess’s “Fourth Wall Friday” blog; in which authors were invited to put themselves into a scene where they interacted with their characters. I had a great deal of fun imagining myself returning to the scene of my very first series. It started me thinking about all the stories I hadn't told yet. And it really motivated me to start getting some of those ideas out there.

Year of the Rabbit
A Very Short Story
It was the year of the rabbit, and someone had the brilliant idea to get a bunch of authors together and have them write rabbit-themed short stories in celebration of the event.
Everyone who signed up to participate received a randomly generated set of three characters; three adjectives with which to describe said characters; a setting; an opening line; and a line of dialogue that had to be worked into the story somewhere.
My characters were Doc, a drunk veterinarian; Jim, an anxious bounty hunter; and Candy, a picky stripper. My setting was a Hollywood Premier party. And my line of dialogue was, “Why don’t you take off your shirt?”
This was the result…

December 24, 1871
Just one short year ago, Ophelia Leonides returned to New Texacali hoping to reconcile with her husband. And, for a while, it seemed that most, if not all, her dreams were coming true. But as the holiday season approaches, Ophelia can’t help but notice that Dario has begun to brood. He says it has nothing to do with her, but trust, once lost, is hard to regain.
Dario is frustrated by his inability to give Ophelia the life he knows she deserves.
